This is the second "Old Mountain Home" painting to be completed. One of the key contributors of photographs for this painting was the family of Emrys Evans. Mr. Evans kept a photographic record of life in Mountain Home. As a thank you his name appears on a sign on the side of the Montgomery Bank Building. A picture of him was also used to create one of the key figurines in the painting, the man with the camera. His wife, Marge Evans is riding in the sleigh. A lot of research went into making the store fronts accurate for 1953. Since I'm not a "car person" I carelessly put in a 1955 Chevy pulling a trailer. When the painting debuted many people told me of the error but I decided to keep the car and change the name "1953 Christmas". It makes for an interesting story and I'm amazed at how many people recognize that darn car. |
