“Welcome Home” to Mountain Home 1957. This was the era when ornate storefronts with large neon signs appealed to travelers when the Highway still went through Main Street. The challenge with this series of paintings has always been the scarcity of photographs that exist from the correct time frames. Many residents provided help in the form of old photos and memories. A special thank you must be said to everyone at the Historical Museum, John Hiler (local historian) and Coleen Swenson from Mountain Home News for her help with old photographs. It was Hick Dutton’s idea to do paintings of Old Mountain Home and there were many others who also contributed and they also deserve to be thanked. |
